in softness we trust
I have been weaving. I have been very full of love.
thinking about softness
From bart ride this morning:
Like an answer from above
I am currently taken by the importance of softening the landscape
in protest to hardscape over development
in recognition of our ecological cycles
in remembering the memory of the soft earth we once walked upon
the role of the landscape designer as
the hand of softness
wielding the palate of delicate plants
the intentional moving of surfaces
of sweeping slopes and cozy corners
shapes and sizes and dimensions and perspectives that
nurture, steward, and love
the earth under our feet
holding us softly
the visitors to the spaces feeling this intention
what starts as imagination
moves to creation
and launches into integration
softens our surroudnings
softness as a response to time,
as a reaction to wear
use
weathering
softness as a return
as a place to rest
where corners
met by force
are softened to the
point of least
resistance
we do not shy away from the hard, the sharp
we move towards it with great care
softness against all odds
softness in spite of it all
in softness
we trust
